Prof. Darragh Murnane
Director

Darragh Murnane is Professor of Pharmaceutics at the University of Hertfordshire Centre for Research in Topical Drug Delivery and Toxicology. He is also Associate Dean (Business & Enterprise) for the University’s School of Life and Medical Sciences and Director of the Hertfordshire Science Partnership. Darragh obtained his BSc (Pharm) from Trinity College Dublin and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology at King’s College London. Prof. Murnane’s research involves development and characterisation of aerosol medicines for inhalation therapy which has secured significant investment from Innovate UK, EPSRC, NC3Rs, BBSRC and the USA Food and Drug Administration. 

Darragh is Principal Investigator on an EPSRC Manufacturing for the Future programme called INFORM 2020 – From Molecules to Manufacture, where he leads an international academic-industrial consortium to translate new drug molecules into safe, market-ready inhalation products. As Associate Dean for Business and Enterprise, Darragh leads on academic-industrial collaborations including consultancy, knowledge transfer, research and external professional development. This has included establishing the Hertfordshire Science Partnership, a £6M programme with funding from Hertfordshire LEP’s Single Local Growth Fund and the European Regional Development Fund at the University of Hertfordshire to stimulate innovation and growth in Hertfordshire’s life sciences economy.
